If you take a look at the In Progress gallery you will see a few more photos of the sunflower in process. This was a fun one to make. I got to play around a bit with the pattern of the glass on the yellow petals and the green leaves. The center is a hammered texture to mimic the seeds of a real sun flower.
The jump rings are in a nice and secure place on the outside. This should keep them from pulling away from the glass with the solder and foil tape. For heavier pieces, you will want to look at making your own jump rings and have a leg on them that will be buried in the solder line to make them even more secure to be able to handle the wait.
Tomorrow I will be patina-ing this piece to make it look more like a sunflower. Making the solder lines black instead of the silver that they are now. It looks nice in person, but I think the patina-ing will make this piece even better. I think moving forward (for the most part) I will be patina-ing all my pieces because it makes them look complete, finished. Sometimes the bare solder just has an unfinished look.
